Abstract

A method for increasing the volume of keratin fibers is described. The method for increasing the volume of keratin fibers comprises the steps of: (i) treating the keratin fibers by topical application of a cosmetic composition comprising, in a cosmetically acceptable medium: (c) at least urea and/or an urea derivative selected from N,N-dimethylurea, N-(2-hydroxyethyl)urea, N-(3-hydroxypropyl)urea, N-(2-hydroxypropyl)urea, N-(2-hydroxy-2-methyl-prop-2-yl)urea, N-(1,3-dihydroxy-2-methyl-prop-2-yl)urea, N-(1,3-dihydroxy-2-hydroxymethyl-prop-2-yl)urea, and mixtures thereof; and (d) at least one film-forming amino-silicone polymer selected from Polysilicone-35, Polysilicone-33, Polysilicone-29, and mixtures thereof; (ii) allowing the composition to remain in contact with the keratin fibers for a period ranging from about 5 seconds to about 96 hours. This method increases the volume of keratin fibers, in particular human hair, without leaving the hair stiff or sticky, without leaving substantial adhesion between the hair fibers while maintaining the improvement in the volume of hair after washing it with a shampoo.
