Abstract
An airbag support for an unconventional steering wheel (22) comprises a rigid support element (26) moveable between a first position and a deployed position where the rigid support element is positioned to support a deployed airbag (24); and an actuation mechanism configured to move the rigid support element from the first position to the deployed position upon actuation.
