Abstract

There is provided a control apparatus and a control method for a vehicle that can control the steering angle of rear wheels and the driving torque of in-wheel motors mounted on the rear wheels according to the motion state of a vehicle and the operation state of a driver, and can independently control the yaw rate and the crosswise acceleration that are generated in the vehicle. A control apparatus for a vehicle includes a steering mechanism that steers rear wheels of the vehicle, and in-wheel motors that drive the rear wheels, the control apparatus including an operation state detection device that detects an operation state by a driver, a motion state detection device that detects a motion state of the vehicle, and a wheel control device that controls the steering mechanism and the in-wheel motors based on a signal detected by the operation state detection device and a signal detected by the motion state detection device.
