Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of 4-(3',5'-di-t-butylphenyl)-2-methyl-1H-indene (Cpd-3), <img class="EMIRef" id="4fd1adc7-489e-42ce-8a3e-0f58e52b4cfe-ia01" /> the process comprising the steps as defined in the claims. The present invention also relates to a process for the preparation of rac-dimethylsilylenebis(2-methyl-4-[3',5'-di-t-butylphenyl]indenyl) zirconium dichloride (rMet1), <img class="EMIRef" id="4fd1adc7-489e-42ce-8a3e-0f58e52b4cfe-ia02" /> the process comprising the steps as defined in the claims. The present invention also relates to a catalyst composition comprising: rac-dimethylsilylenebis(2-methyl-4-[3',5'-di-t-butylphenyl]indenyl) zirconium dichloride (rMet1); a titanated solid oxide support; at least one optional activator; and at least one optional cocatalyst. The present invention also relates to an olefin polymerization process, the process comprising: contacting at least one catalyst composition as defined in the claims, with an olefin monomer, optionally hydrogen, and optionally one or more olefin comonomers; and polymerizing the monomer, and the optionally one or more olefin comonomers, in the presence of the at least one catalyst composition, and optional hydrogen, thereby obtaining an olefin polymer.
