Abstract
A purpose of the present invention is to provide: an electrolyte membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, said electrolyte membrane having excellent proton conductivity; a membrane electrode assembly that includes the electrolyte membrane for the polymer electrolyte fuel cell; a polymer electrolyte fuel cell that includes the membrane electrode assembly; methods for producing the electrolyte membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell, the membrane electrode assembly, and the polymer electrolyte fuel cell; and an electrolyte membrane for solid polymer water electrolysis. The electrolyte membrane for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell according to the present invention contains fine fibrous cellulose that is derived from wood or plants, wherein the average fiber width of the fine fibrous cellulose that is derived from wood or plants is 50 nm or less, and the fine fibrous cellulose has a phosphorus oxoacid group.
