Abstract

An irrigation system (100) comprises a sprinkler (200) for watering of at least one pre-defined area (A1, A2, A3), and at least one mounting structure (300) configured such that the sprinkler (200) is removably couplable in a defined orientation to the at least one mounting structure (300). The irrigation system (100) is characterized that the sprinkler (200) comprises a position determining device (230) configured to determine a cardinal orientation of the sprinkler (200). The irrigation system (100) further comprises a control unit (224) configured to control the watering of the at least one pre-defined area (A) dependent on the determined cardinal orientation of the sprinkler (200) when the sprinkler (200) is removably coupled to one of the at least one mounting structure (300).
