Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for the manufacture of a diesel oxidation catalyst, the method comprising: (a) providing a washcoat comprising platinum supported on a colloidal silica support, and a platinum-group-metal-free, optionally-doped, alumina powder, wherein a mass ratio of the silica support to the alumina powder is from 2:3 to 5:1; (b) applying the washcoat to a substrate to form a washcoat layer on at least a portion thereof; and (c) calcining the substrate and washcoat layer to form the diesel oxidation catalyst.
