Abstract

Provided is a water-repellent composition which impart good water-repellency and good chalk mark resistance to a substrate (particularly a textile product). The water-repellent composition comprising a polymer (A) comprising a repeating unit derived from a hydrocarbon group-containing monomer (a) having a hydrocarbon group having 2 to 40 carbon atoms, and a silicone compound (B) composed of a non-resin-type silicone and a resin-type silicone, wherein in the GPC chart of the silicone compound (B), a peak top is present in the region of molecular weight of 1,500 or more, a component of the silicone compound with a molecular weight of 1,500 or more comprises a non-resin-type silicone other than an amino-modified silicone, and an amount of the silicone compound (B) is 1 to 49% by weight based on a sum of the amount of the polymer (A) and the amount of the silicone compound (B).
