Abstract
A process for producing a digital copy of the atmosphere relative to a given geographic domain on different space-time scales comprises the steps of: receiving a first and a second dataset of weather measurements from a plurality of in-situ and remote weather stations associated with the geographic domain; generating a first dataset of territorial metadata of specific morphological information of the geographic domain at the spatial resolution of the atmospheric simulation model; generating a modelled weather dataset with the application of an atmospheric simulation model to the first and second datasets of weather measurements and to the first dataset of territorial metadata; generating a second dataset of territorial metadata of specific morphological information of the geographic domain at the final spatial resolution; generating a final weather dataset with the application of a statistical processing algorithm with an artificial neural network to the first and second datasets of weather measurements, to the second dataset of territorial metadata and to the modelled weather dataset. In detail, the final weather dataset is representative, for each processed time instant, of the numerical values of the weather variables of the points of the geographic domain and is represented on a regular grid, complete in time and space, with a spatial resolution that is greater than that of the modelled weather dataset.
