Abstract

The present disclosure relates to verifying a functional requirement of a driving automation system feature, which is configured to be performed by a plurality of vehicles of varying vehicle types. To verify a driving automation system feature for a given vehicle type, a combined vehicle type state model is derived based on one or more characteristics of the given vehicle type. The combined vehicle type state model provides a future vehicle type state based on a current vehicle state and a control output of the driving automation system feature. Further, a type operational design domain (ODD) and a vehicle type safe state set are obtained. If the combined vehicle type safe state model outputs future vehicle type states within the type ODD for all control outputs determined by the driving automation system feature for the vehicle type safe state set, the driving automation system feature is verified.
