Abstract

Provided are a drone equipped with a lightweight antenna capable of maintaining better wireless communication with a passive IC tag installed on an object to be monitored, and a monitoring system and a monitoring method using the drone. An antenna 7 that constitutes a communication unit 6 is a two-element patch antenna in which two antenna elements 8 are arranged side by side on a lower surface of a reflector 9, and the reflector 9 and each of the antenna elements 8 are formed from an aluminum alloy plate having a thickness of 3 mm or less. The reflector 9 is installed on the drone 1 such that a camera through hole 9a formed between each of the antenna elements 8 at the center of the reflector 9 is located at the center of the drone 1 in a plan view, and in a field of view of the drone 1 as viewed from directly below, the reflector 9 and each of the antenna elements 8 are visible, and a camera device 5 disposed above the reflector 9 acquires image data below the drone 1 through the camera through hole 9a.
