Abstract
A charger for charging the battery (B) of an electric vehicle from the grid (G), said charger being configured for being operated in at least two configurations for charging said battery from the grid G, said configurations being selected from single phase configuration, biphase configuration, three phase configuration with neutral and three-phase configuration without neutral, said charger comprising- a first connector unit for connecting the charger to the grid (G),- an AC/DC converter (75), comprising three or four legs, each leg comprising at least two switching devices in series, each leg being connected to a different phase line or neutral line originating from the grid side of said first connector,- a set of filters (77) provided between said first connector unit and said AC/DC converter, said set of filters comprising, for each phase line and for the neutral line, at least a differential mode filter (81) and a common mode filter (80),- a second connector unit for connecting the charger to the battery (B),said charger being characterized in that it further comprises an additional switch (S) and a filter capacitor C<sub>AF</sub>, said additional switch being configured to be capable of switching between two positions, namely- a first position wherein said filter capacitor (C<sub>AF</sub>) is put in series with the differential mode filter (81d) connected to a leg which is not used in the configured charger operation,- a second position wherein said filter capacitor (C<sub>AF</sub>) is disconnected from said common mode filter (81d).
