Abstract

A controller for a power conversion device that drives an electric motor includes an arithmetic device, and the arithmetic device is configured to: calculate an output of the electric motor; calculate a loss change amount due to a temperature change of the electric motor; when a ratio of the loss change amount to the output of the electric motor is smaller than an allowable torque error ratio of the electric motor, set a first estimated torque value based on the output of the electric motor and on a rotation speed of the electric motor as an estimated torque value of the electric motor; and when otherwise, set a second estimated torque value based on a current of the electric motor and a rotor phase of the electric motor as the estimated torque value of the electric motor.
