Abstract

The present invention relates to A universal interface (10) for receiving or transmitting analog signals and/or digital data in a bus-based communication system (1), comprising:- a driver unit (11) configured to provide a received voltage signal depending on a received analog current signal and/or on received digital data and for driving an analog output onto the signal/data bus line (4);- an analog-digital converter (22) configured to sample a received voltage signal provided by the driver unit and to provide a time series of the sampled signal values;- a digital-analog converter (21) configured to provide an analog signal for driving onto the signal/data bus line (4) by the driver unit;- an integrated microcontroller (12) comprising∘ a modem (25), particularly a HART modem, configured to modulate and to provide a frequency modulated signal to code provided digital data and to receive and demodulate a frequency modulated signal to obtain digital data;∘ a low pass digital filter (23) configured to receive the time series of the sampled signal values and to provide analog values corresponding to an analog signal received;∘ a bandpass digital filter (24) configured to receive the time series of the sampled signal values and to forward the filtered time series of the sampled signal values to the modem,∘ a comparator (26) configured to perform a threshold comparison onto the time series of the sampled signal values to generate digital data for further processing in the microcontroller (12).
