Abstract

A stationary network device (14) is described. The stationary network device (14) comprises a communication module (36), and at least one sensor assembly (38). The communication module (36) is configured to communicate with other network devices (14, 16). The at least one sensor assembly (38) is configured to detect a position of the stationary network device (14), a movement of the stationary network device (14), and/or an acceleration of the stationary network device (14), thereby obtaining status data that comprises information on the detected position, movement, and/or acceleration of the stationary network device (14). The at least one sensor assembly (38) is configured to generate a status message comprising the status data. The communication module (36) is configured to transmit the status message generated by the at least one sensor assembly (38). Further, a network monitoring system (10) and a network monitoring method are described.
