Abstract

There is provided techniques for encoding pixel blocks (220a) of a video sequence (200). A method is performed by an image processing device (110, 900). The method comprises obtaining (S102) video sequence (200) composed of a sequence of image frames (210a, 210b). The method for each of the image frames (210a, 210b) further comprises calculating (S104) statistics per pixel block (220a). The method for each of the image frames (210a, 210b) further comprises categorizing (S106) the pixel block (220a) into three different motion categories based on their statistics. The method for each of the image frames (210a, 210b) further comprises encoding (S108) each of the pixel blocks (220a) with a compression rate that depends on which motion category each of the pixel blocks (220a) belongs.
