Abstract
A propulsion system (20) for an aircraft includes a propulsor rotor (38), a powerplant (24), a nacelle (36) and a lockout system (100). The powerplant (24) is coupled to and configured to drive rotation of the propulsor rotor (38). An electrical system (86) for the powerplant (24) is configured to receive electrical power from an electrical power source (90). The nacelle (36) includes an access structure (92A) configured to move between a first position and a second position. The access structure (92A) at least partially covers the electrical system (86) when in the first position. The access structure (92A) is arranged in the first position for propulsion system operation. The access structure (92A) is operable to be arranged in the second position for propulsion system maintenance and/or propulsion system inspection. The lockout system (100) is configured to automatically trigger an operation to cut off the electrical power to the electrical system (86) from the electrical power source (90) when the access structure (92A) moves away from the first position.
