Abstract

A sealable and re-closable cup lid replaces the two packaging components (a) foil lid and (b) snap-on lid with one new cup lid combining the sealability of a foil lid and the re-close-ability of a snap-on lid. The cup lid (1) comprises a lid rim (3) and a lid foil (2), wherein the lid foil (2) has an inner surface provided with a sealing area, in particular a heat-sealable area, for attachment to the cup for food products. The lid rim (3) is provided with lugs (33) around its inner perimeter, which lugs (33) ensure that the cup lid (1) can be used to seal tightly around an opening of a cup. The cup lid can be used with any cup and is produced using an injection-moulding process.
