Abstract

A blocking device for an elevator system and an elevator system are disclosed. The blocking device comprises: a base, configured to be mounted in an elevator hoistway at a preset distance from a top or bottom of the elevator hoistway; a first signal member and a second signal member, fixed relative to the base; and a rod, pivotally fixed to the base with a first end connected to one end of a rope arranged in the elevator system, and configured such that: when the other end of the rope is operated to tighten the rope to pivot the rod to a first preset position, the rod triggers the first signal member to generate a first signal, and the elevator system is allowed to operate normally in response to the first signal; when the other end of the rope is operated to release the rope to pivot the rod to a second preset position by gravity, the rod triggers the second signal member to generate a second signal, and the elevator system enters a stopped state in response to the second signal.
