Abstract

A compressor (100) includes a casing (10), a motor (20), a compression mechanism (40), an oil reservoir (14), a crankshaft (30), a rotary member (60), a first space (S1), a second space (S2), and a discharge pipe (17). The motor (20) includes a stator (21), a rotor (25), a refrigerant descending passage (54), and a refrigerant ascending passage (50). The rotary member (60) rotates together with the rotor (25) and has an outer diameter (X) larger than an inner diameter (Y) of the stator (21). The crankshaft (30) transmits rotation of the rotor (25) to the compression mechanism (40). The first space (S1) is formed between the compression mechanism (40) and the motor (20). The second space (S2) is formed between the motor (20) and the oil reservoir (14). The discharge pipe (17) is disposed in the first space (S1). The refrigerant descending passage (54) allows a refrigerant (R) to pass from the first space (S1) to the second space (S2). The refrigerant ascending passage (50) allows the refrigerant (R) to pass from the second space (S2) to the first space (S1).
