Abstract
Provided is a method for discharging refrigerant that improves the amount of an odorant to be separated. The method for discharging the refrigerant includes a step of discharging the refrigerant containing an odorant from a refrigeration cycle apparatus (S1a), and a step of separating the odorant from the refrigerant (S2a) after the step of discharging (S1a). A boiling point Tb2 of the odorant is higher than a boiling point Tb1 of the refrigerant. In the step of discharging (S1a), the refrigerant is discharged together with a refrigerating machine oil. In the step of separating (S2a), the refrigerant containing the odorant is cooled to a temperature Tc between the boiling point Tb2 of the odorant and the boiling point Tb1 of the refrigerant. The temperature Tc is above a melting point Tm2 of the odorant.
