Abstract

An aerial image display device includes a display and an optical system that forms an aerial image as a real image from image light emitted from the display. In the aerial image display device, a ratio S1/S2 is greater than or equal to 0.58, where S1 is an area obtained by integrating, on a spatial frequency axis, a first modulation transfer function of the aerial image formed by the optical system, and S2 is an area obtained by integrating, on the spatial frequency axis, a second modulation transfer function of an ideal aerial image formed by an ideal optical system being the optical system having a diffraction limited resolution.
