Abstract
In an example point cloud attribute coding method, a plurality of micropatches are obtained. Each micropatch has a plurality of pixels, and at least one pixel of each micropatch is associated with a respective point in a point cloud. Each pixel that is associated with a respective point has a pixel feature value. A first point in the point cloud is associated with respective pixels in each of a first plurality of the micropatches. These associated pixels in the first plurality of the micropatches have a first plurality of pixel feature values. A point feature value is determined for the first point by calculating a weighted sum of the first plurality of pixel feature values.
