Abstract
An array of antenna elements (103, 201, 503, 601) has a first set of antenna elements (103, 503) having extending legs (104, 504) and configured to operate at a wavelength of λ. A second set of antenna elements (201, 601) having extending legs (202, 602) is interspersed among the first set of antenna elements with a desired configuration. The second set of elements is shifted and rotated with respect to the first set of elements such that legs of elements in the second set are disposed between legs of elements in the first set. The spacing (303, 703) between elements of the first set and immediately adjacent elements of the second set is small, for example, between 0.3 λ and 1λ.
