Abstract
This document relates to computer networking. For instance, the disclosed techniques provide for prioritizing packets based on Quality of Service ("QoS") levels within a networking device, such as a router. A router or other networking device consistent with the disclosed implementations can perform priority masking of received packets by comparing QoS priority values of the received packets to a designated QoS priority level. Packets having QoS priority values exceeding the designated QoS priority level can proceed to arbitration, whereas other packets can be masked to prevent them from proceeding to arbitration.
