Abstract

A device (e.g., a decoder) may obtain a plurality of reference sample arrays associated with a video block. The device may determine an intra-prediction mode associated with the video block. The device may determine, based on a direction of the intra-prediction mode, a reference sample support of the intra-prediction mode, for example, from the plurality of reference sample arrays associated with the video block. The device may perform a matrix-based intra-prediction (MIP) of the video block using the reference sample support of the intra-prediction mode. The device may decode the video block based on the MIP of the video block. In examples, a reference sample support may include a plurality of primary reference samples associated with the intra-prediction mode. The device may determine an MIP matrix associated with the reference sample support and/or perform the MIP of the video block further based on the MIP matrix.
