Abstract

Systems, methods, and instrumentalities are disclosed for bilateral filtering on intra prediction. In examples, a device (e.g., a video encoding and/or decoding device) may be configured to determine that a decoder side intra mode derivation (DIMD) mode is used to decode a block. The device may, based on the determination that the DIMD mode is used to decode the block, obtain DIMD histogram of gradients (HoG) information. The device may, based at least on the DIMD HoG information, determine whether to enable intra bilateral filtering (BIF) on the block. The device may, based on a determination to enable the intra BIF, apply the intra BIF to process (e.g., encode and/or decode) the block.
