Abstract
An apparatus comprises a receiver (201) receiving a biomedical waveform time domain signal and a circuit (203) arranging samples of the biomedical signal into an N-dimensional data structure (N≥2). A compression circuit (205) generates compressed data by applying a compression process to the N-dimensional data structure where the compression process includes an N-dimensional transform coding. A data signal generator (207) generates the data signal to include the compressed data, and an adapter (209) adapts the arranging of samples of the biomedical signal into the structure dependent on a property, such as for example a periodicity, of the biomedical waveform time domain signal. A complementary apparatus is arranged to perform the complementary operations to reconstruct the biomedical waveform time domain signal.
