Abstract

A process for the separation of at least one polyolefin from a product stream (a) from a solution polymerization process, wherein the product stream (a) comprises the at least one polyolefin and a mixture of volatiles, wherein the mixture of volatiles comprises at least one solvent, 1-butene, and at least one olefin other than 1-butene, the process comprising the steps of: - separating in a first separation step at a temperature, preferably flash temperature, of lower than 250 °C and at a pressure of higher than 9 bar(a) the product stream (a) into a first 1-butene-rich vapor stream (b) and a first condensed polyolefin-rich stream (c); - separating in a second separation step the first condensed polyolefin-rich stream (c) into a second 1-butene-rich vapor stream (b') and a second condensed polyolefin-rich stream (c'); - condensing in a first condensing step at least a part of the second 1-butene-rich vapor stream (b') into a condensed butene-lean recovery stream (b*) and a 1-butene-rich vapor recycle stream (b**); characterized in that the first 1-butene-rich vapor stream (b) and the 1-butene-rich vapor recycle stream (b**) are introduced into an initial feed stream (a') of the solution polymerization process without any further purification step.
