Abstract

An illustrative example embodiment of an elevator door assembly (20) includes a door panel (24) having at least one edge (28). A base (32) is configured to be received adjacent the edge of the door panel. An astragal (34) is configured to be at least partially received over the base such that the base holds the astragal in a selected position aligned with the edge of the door panel. The astragal is at least partially compressible for closing off an interface between the edge of the door panel and an adjacent surface.
