Abstract
The present invention provides a process for the preparation of 2-C<sub>3</sub>-C<sub>4</sub> alkanone ox-imes, i.e. 2-propanoneoxime or 2-butanoneoxime, comprising the following steps:a) subjecting a mixture (M) comprising a C<sub>1</sub>-C<sub>10</sub> alkyl nitrite and liquefied linear C<sub>3</sub>-C<sub>4</sub> alkane, i.e. n-propane or n-butane, to an irradiation by means of at least one light-emitting diode, to obtain a product mixture (P), which contains 2-C<sub>3</sub>-C<sub>4</sub> alkanone oxime, i.e. 2-propanoneoxime or 2-butanoneoxime, and a C<sub>1</sub>-C<sub>10</sub> alkanol, wherein the light emitting diodes essentially emit radiation having a wavelength in the range of 300 to 500 nm; andb) separating the C<sub>1</sub>-C<sub>10</sub> alkanol from the product mixture (P) to obtain the 2-C<sub>3</sub>-C<sub>4</sub> alkanone oxime.
