Abstract
A staining-condition evaluation method includes the step of applying a first primary antibody to a test specimen under a first staining condition (step S11), the step of capturing an image of the test specimen to acquire a first image (step S13), the step of applying a second primary antibody to the test specimen under a second staining condition (step S15), the step of capturing an image of the test specimen to acquire a second image (step S17), and the step of determining the propriety or impropriety of the first and second staining conditions in accordance with the result of detecting stained cells in each of the first and second images (step S18). In step S18, the first and second staining conditions are determined to be appropriate when cells on the test specimen are stained in a specific manner in the first image, when cells on the test specimen, different from the cells stained in the first image, are stained in a specific manner in the second image, and when the cells stained in the first image are not stained in the second image on the test specimen.
