Abstract
An Ultra-Wideband (UWB) sensing system comprises a first and a second UWB anchors (101, 102) that reciprocally transmit an UWB frame to each other. The system obtains a channel impulse response (CIR) from each UWB frame signal received by the other UWB anchor, and compares the obtained CIR to a reference CIR to identify a path indicative of a static object's presence. The system localizes the static object using an Angle of Arrival (AoA) of each signal. By leveraging UWB anchors for dual purposes such as communication devices and radar sensors, the system enables the reuse of vehicle access infrastructure for enhanced parking sensing, potentially reducing costs.
