Abstract
A method in an encoder to determine whether an input audio signal has high peakyness and low energy concentration is provided. The method includes obtaining a magnitude of a critical frequency range of the frequency spectrum. The method further includes obtaining a peakyness measure. The method further includes obtaining a noise band detection measure. The method further includes determining a harmonic condition based on at least the peakyness measure and the noise band detection measure. The method includes outputting an indication of whether the harmonic condition is true or false.
