Abstract

A drive unit to be mounted on a vehicle according to an aspect of the present invention, the drive unit including: a high-voltage unit electrically connected to a battery; a motor configured to allow electric power from the high-voltage unit to be supplied via an inverter; and a gear box provided on a shaft of the motor and configured to accommodate a shaft gear having a diameter smaller than an outer diameter dimension of the motor, the high-voltage unit, the motor, and the gear box being unitized. In this drive unit, at least a part of components of the inverter is accommodated in an accommodating chamber formed as a space different from a gear chamber accommodating the shaft gear due to a dimensional difference between the outer diameter dimension of the motor and an outer diameter dimension of the shaft gear, and in a vehicle mounted state, the motor is disposed on one side in a vehicle width direction of the gear box, and the high-voltage unit is disposed on the other side in the vehicle width direction of the gear box.
