Abstract
There is provided a method, comprising: at a reduced capability (redcap) user equipment (UE) configured to connect to a base station of a wireless network: receiving, from the base station, a broadcast including access restrictions, wherein the access restrictions include a first set of predetermined criteria that must be satisfied for the redcap UE to camp on the base station; determining whether the redcap UE satisfies the first set of predetermined criteria; when the redcap UE satisfies the first set of predetermined criteria, performing a random access channel(RACH) procedure to camp on the base station; and generating, for transmission to the base station, redcap UE capability information associated with a second set of predetermined criteria that must be satisfied for the redcap UE to establish a radio resource control (RRC) connection with the base station.
