Abstract

A stand-alone cooling unit (100), arranged for cooling living animals in a loading space of a vehicle (10), comprises: a housing (120) accommodating an electric power generator (110); an air-cooling system (130) powered by the electric power generator and configured to generate a flow of cooled air; and a control unit (140) configured to control the cooling capacity in dependence of at least one sensor signal. The housing is equipped with a support structure (123) designed to facilitate the lifting of the cooling unit with a lifting device, and to allow the loading and unloading of the cooling unit from either a left side or a right side of the loading space with the lifting device. The housing is also equipped with air outlets (124) configured to provide a flow of cooled air along the living animals loaded in the loading space.
