Abstract

An article of footwear having a sole structure (64) and an upper (62), the sole structure (64) comprising a top midsole (70) coupled to the upper (62), a sole plate (72) coupled to the top midsole (70), a front midsole (74) coupled to the top midsole (70) and the sole plate (72), a rear midsole (76) coupled to the top midsole (70) and the sole plate (72), and an outsole (78) coupled to the front midsole (74) and the rear midsole (76). The front midsole (74) is spaced forward from the rear midsole (76) creating a cavity, and an underside of the sole plate (72) is exposed in the cavity. The sole plate (72) includes a plurality of peaks and a plurality of valleys on the lateral side (98) of an outer edge of the sole plate (72) between a widest section of the sole plate (72) and a toe end of the sole plate. The top midsole (70), the front midsole (74), and the rear midsole (76) are made of a supercritical foam that includes an organic compound having an open-chain structure.
