Abstract
The present invention relates to particles comprising a superabsorbent polymer (SAP) and a quaternary ammonium compound (Quat). The superabsorbent polymer is a crosslinked polyacrylate. The quaternary ammonium compound is antimicrobial and/or anti-inflammatory. Moreover, the quaternary ammonium compound is non-covalently linked to the superabsorbent polymer. The particles can thus be advantageously highly absorbent, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, easy to produce and inexpensive. Furthermore, the present invention relates to a process for producing these particles and a wound dressing comprising these particles.
