Abstract
Composite matching layer and method of fabricating composite matching layers for ultrasound transducers. A method of fabricating composite matching layers comprises mechanically shaping a high impedance material (120) to yield a trapezoidal-shaped bar or a plurality of parallel pyramidal shaped columns, and fill grooves between said trapezoidal-shaped bars or plurality of parallel pyramidal shaped columns with a low impedance material (130).
