Abstract

A vehicle body structure 1 according to the present invention includes: a pair of left and right front side members 11 extending in a vehicle front-rear direction and having a closed cross section structure; and a crash box 21 extending from a distal end of each of the front side members 11 toward a vehicle front side and having a closed cross section structure, in which a plate thickness and a tensile strength of a metal plate used for each of the front side member 11 and the crash box 21 are set such that a ratio F<x1>/F<x2> between an axial force F<x1> of a cross section where a line length in a cross-sectional direction is the minimum of the closed cross section structure in the crash box 21, and an axial force F<x2> of a cross section where a line length in a cross-sectional direction is the minimum of the closed cross section structure in the front side member 11, is equal to or less than a predetermined critical ratio of axial force.
