Abstract

The invention relates to a method for providing a structure (1) comprising a vertical support arrangement (11) and a steel beam (12). The method comprises providing a vertical support arrangement (11), providing a steel beam (12), supporting the steel beam (12) by the vertical supports (111, 112, 113, 114). Providing the steel beam (12) comprises determining an ultimate limit state and a serviceability limit state for the steel beam (12), determining estimated properties of the steel beam (12), calculating the temperature distribution over the length of the steel beam (12) in the structure (1) in the event of fire based on the standard fire curve, determining the required properties of the steel beam (12), determining modified estimated properties of the steel beam (12), and selecting the steel beam (12). The invention relates also to a steel beam and a structure.
