Abstract
A personal care device includes a housing, a relative humidity sensor disposed within the housing, and a processor disposed within the housing and configured to monitor a rate of change of relative humidity within the housing using an output from the humidity sensor, and generate a water ingress alarm when the rate of change of relative humidity exceeds a predetermined first threshold. The personal care device may further include a temperature sensor disposed within the housing. In this case, the processor may be further configured to monitor a rate of change of temperature within the housing using an output from the temperature sensor, and generate the water ingress alert when both the rate of change of relative humidity exceeds the predetermined first threshold and the rate of change of temperature is below a predetermined second threshold.
