Abstract

A crimp for fastening a septum to a glass barrel of a cartridge containing a sterile liquid medicament for use in an injection or infusion device, where the septum is sterile and covered by a first continuous flexible strip, and where a fluid path unit comprises a cartridge holder and a fluid path containment comprising a needle in an interior. The needle is configured to penetrate the septum of the cartridge through a passage in the fluid path containment. The passage is closed by a second continuous flexible strip keeping the interior of the fluid path containment in a sterile condition. The cartridge is inserted into the cartridge holder aligning the septum with the passage and sandwiching both strips between the septum and the fluid path containment. The both strips are simultaneously removable from the cartridge and fluid path containment thereby establishing a sterile connection between the septum and the interior of the fluid path containment.
