Abstract

The invention describes a protector (1) for use in preventing corrosion on the surfaces of a hole (2H) formed in a component (2), comprising a carrier (10) bearing a supply of a volatile corrosion inhibitor, which carrier (10) is shaped to fit inside the hole (2H); a magnetic cover (11) dimensioned to extend beyond the circumference of the hole (2H); and a means of attaching the carrier (10) to the magnetic cover (11). The invention further describes a method of handling a component (2) comprising an arrangement of holes (2H) using a set of such protectors (1) to prevent corrosion in the holes (2H) during storage and/or transport of the component (2).
