Abstract

A first object of the present invention is to provide a method for producing a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, by which a cholesteric liquid crystal layer that is less likely to undergo a change in reflection spectrum in a case where a heating treatment is carried out in a state where an adjacent layer is arranged on a surface of the cholesteric liquid crystal layer can be easily produced. In addition, a second object of the present invention is to provide a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, a reflective film, a laminated glass, a head-up display system, and a composition. The method for producing a cholesteric liquid crystal layer of an embodiment of the present invention includes a step 1 of forming a composition layer including liquid crystal compounds having a polymerizable group, a first polymerizable chiral agent that undergoes a change in helical twisting power by light irradiation, and a second polymerizable chiral agent; a step 2 of aligning the liquid crystal compounds; a step 3 of irradiating the composition layer with light having a wavelength that enables the helical twisting power of the first polymerizable chiral agent to change, under predetermined conditions; and a step 4 of subjecting the composition layer to a curing treatment to form a cholesteric liquid crystal layer, in which the composition layer is subjected to a heating treatment between the step 3 and the step 4, or in the step 3.
