Abstract

An optical fiber unit includes: a plurality of optical fibers or optical fiber ribbons; and a plastic film having a thickness of less than 0.1 mm and covering a periphery of the plurality of optical fibers or the plurality of optical fiber ribbons. The plastic film includes a base material and an adhesive resin layer provided on at least one side of the base material. The adhesive resin layer has a melting point of lower than 200°C. The plastic film is formed in an annular shape in a cross-sectional view by partially melting a part of the plastic film by the adhesive resin layer.
