Abstract

The present invention relates to a quality control apparatus for quality control of packages. The quality control apparatus comprising: a memory storing a machine learning model being trained to identify defects in 3D representations of packages; and circuitry. The circuitry is configured to execute: an image obtaining function configured to, from an image capturing device, obtain a plurality of images depicting a package from a plurality of view angles; a 3D rendering function configured to render a 3D representation of the package having as input the plurality of images; and a quality control function configured to perform quality control of the package by inputting the rendered 3D representation of the package into the machine learning model. A method of generating a training dataset for a machine learning model is also presented.
