Abstract
The present disclosure relates to an electrolyte composition for lithium secondary batteries. The electrolyte composition for lithium secondary batteries includes a fluorine-substituted linear ester solvent and a fluorine-substituted acrylic additive as a non-aqueous organic solvent and an electrolyte additive, respectively, thereby enabling uniform formation of a solid electrolyte interface layer (SEI layer) with high lithium ion conductivity and excellent heat resistance on the negative electrode surface during activation of the lithium secondary battery. Accordingly, since the reactivity between the negative electrode active material and the electrolyte composition is significantly reduced, the temperature at which heat generation begins between them (i.e., heat onset temperature) increases, thereby suppressing heat generation due to negative electrode deterioration and the like. In addition, the lithium secondary battery including the electrolyte composition has an advantage of excellent high temperature safety since it can minimize side reactions of the electrolyte composition occurring on the negative electrode surface when exposed to high temperature.
