Abstract

The present invention relates to a retention cap (1) for maintaining structural integrity of a connector (4), the connector (4) comprising a housing (8) and at least one internal component (16) inserted into an opening (24) of the housing (8), wherein the retention cap (1) comprises an anchoring section (32) for securing the retention cap (1) to the housing (8) around the opening (24); an abutment section (58) for retaining the at least one internal component (16) inside the opening (24) of the housing (8); and a through hole (28) for passing at least one cable (12) or wire (14) to the at least one internal component (16) along an insertion direction (30); wherein the anchoring section (32) and the abutment section (58) respectively extend around the through hole (28) in a circumferential direction (34) with respect to the insertion direction (30), and wherein the abutment section (58) has a smaller inner circumference (60) than the anchoring section (32). By providing the abutment section (58) with the smaller inner circumference, the abutment section (58) can at least partly cover the opening (24) of the housing (8) to prevent the at least one internal component (16) from falling out, while the anchoring section (32) with its larger inner circumference (60) can cling onto the housing (8). Further, the present invention relates to a housing assembly (2), a connector (4) and a connection assembly (6).
